Arnica:
Arnica is the perennial herb; its botanical name is (Arnica Montana). Arnica is a genus of plants of the complex family (Asteraceae), Arnica found in northwestern North America. Arnica has narrow leaves and orange-yellow flower heads 5 to 7 centimeters (2 to 2.5 inches) across. Arnica is literally well known in alternative medicine. It is also found in the Pyrenees, Siberia, Canada, and the northwestern US.
Uses:
Arnica ( Arnica montana) has been used for medicinal purposes since the 1500s and remains popular today. Applied topically as a cream, ointment, liniment, salve, or tincture, arnica has been used by both Europeans and Native Americans to soothe muscle aches, reduce inflammation, and heal wounds. It is often the first remedy used for injuries such as sprains and bruises. Arnica in herbal form is primarily restricted to topical (external) use because it can cause serious side effects when taken internally. Arnica is often used in homeopathy, and should only be taken internally in the extremely diluted form common to homeopathic remedies. Common use: It is typically rubbed on the skin to soothe and heal bruises, sprains, and relieve irritations from trauma, arthritis and muscle or cartilage pain. Applied as a salve, arnica is also good for chapped lips, irritated nostrils and acne.
Care: Grows in moist, sandy soil with adequate drainage. Likes full sun.
Toxicity: The internal use of Arnica is not suggested. It can cause vomiting, weakness, increased heart rate and nervous disturbances.

Used as a “shock” remedy to help the body and mind cope with sudden, violent events. It is used mainly as a local irritation and vulnary for bruises and sprains. Arnica has also been used for phlebitis, shingles and inflamed breast. It promotes healing, controls bleeding and reduces swelling. Arnica has also been proven efficient for the common cold, cough, bronchitis, fever, sore throat, and a tendency to infection.
